Brighter Futures Coordinator

Reports to: Health Director

Qualifications: 

  • At least 5 years’ experience working with children and youth in the following areas: Education, Health and Social.
  • Experience in coordinating activities, gatherings, workshops, and other events. Experience in a First Nations community.
  • Intermediate computer skills; knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must have completed minimum grade 12.
  • Knowledge base in, Food skills for families and Community Health Education and Prevention.
  • Good organizational and presentation skills, verbal and written communication skills, conflict resolution, time management, interpersonal skills; confidentiality, professional conduct, sound judgement, respect, empathy, sympathy and integrity.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to embodying a personal addiction-free lifestyle.
  • Must be willing to take additional training as directed by the Health Director
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Training completed or needed within 6 months of hiring:
    • First Aid/CPR, Self Harm Awareness, Suicide Awareness/Intervention, Crisis De-Escalation, Diversity/Cross Cultural Training, Indigenous Awareness, Trauma Informed Practice, Abuse Protocol
  • CRC/CAR/CCAR must be completed within 3 months of hire and updated annually

Job Description:

The successful candidate is responsible for the day-to-day coordination, management and leadership of workers to deliver services in an appropriate, caring and respectful manner that is compliant with current Brighter Futures policies and procedures.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Manage, implement and coordinate the Brighter Futures community programs.
  • With the Health Director, define the priorities and appropriate outcomes for the team.
  • Prepare relevant program work plans and reports against achievements required by funders in a timely manner.
  • Build and maintain effective team relationships
  • Actively engage and participate in the performance management framework and review processes across the program.
  • Engage in professional development and set and fulfil development goals for yourself
  • Be active in child community mental health and child development and injury prevention, including training, planning consultation and information exchange.
  • Knowledgeable in creating programs for parenting skills and healthy babies using culturally appropriate services.
  • Setting up workshops in accordance with the community health priorities.
  • Promote health and wellness through learning-related activities that strive to increase awareness, change attitudes, build knowledge and enhance skills. Review Brighter Futures 1-2 year plans regularly to stay on task with the Health Director.
  • Perform all other tasks within the scope of the position and as assigned.
